On the day: hairspray can damage freshwater pearls and adhesives so ask your hairdresser to fit your headpiece after styling your hair. Perfume is also damaging so allow your perfume to dry before putting your jewellery on.

Aftercare: sterling silver will oxidise and go a slightly golden colour over time, which gives it a lovely antique feel. If you’d like to keep it looking fresh, you can polish it with silver cloth or use a silver dip (both available at John Lewis). Store your jewellery in its original box to avoid damage. If it does become damaged I am happy to repair it free of charge – just send it back to me carefully packaged by special delivery.
